The CenterPin Program:

Assess. Prioritize. Execute.

Despite hard work and massive outlays, progress on key initiatives is falling behind. These setbacks are the direct result of too many distractions and competing priorities. Too many initiatives, too many meetings, emails, last-minute requests, interruptions . . . these disruptions suck the energy and sap the resources from those who must actually do the work of the business.

Strategic Prioritization - It’s not just a decision about what you are going to do, it’s also a decision about what you are going to stop doing, what will be de-funded, what will be cancelled so that your management team can commit limited resources on what matters most. Strategic prioritization takes courage because it's human nature for those impacted to push back hard to protect their funding, special projects and people. They will make perfectly reasonable arguments, but you must stay committed to the refined set of new priorities.

The process of developing a limited set strategic priorities is best done with an outside, independent facilitator who has no political attachment to any particular outcome. The facilitator meets privately with key executives and stakeholders for confidential interviews and fact gathering. Next, the executive team meets in a facilitated session to discuss, debate and ultimately agree upon a crisp set of strategic priorities and the ownership / accountability for leading each priority. An independent facilitator is critical because in most cases, the team will have the difficult decision about which programs or initiatives must be reduced in scope, eliminated, pushed off to later periods or de-funded, so that the collective corporate resources can be fully deployed on the most pressing strategic priorities.
